Stop What You’re Doing and Watch Mike Tyson Mysteries

You guys know Mike Tyson, right? Former heavyweight champion of the world, bit off Evander Holyfield’s ear, had pet tigers, got a face tattoo before they were cool, I could go on and on. Well, back in 2014, someone at Adult Swim thought it would be a good idea to give this guy a cartoon, and well... turns out it was a pretty good idea.

Mike Tyson Mysteries is an adult animated comedy that features, well...Mike Tyson solving mysteries. The show is structured to be like a Saturday morning cartoon, with every episode featuring a different villain. The easiest way to describe this show is Scooby Doo and Jonny Quest with politically incorrect humor.

One of this show’s strengths is its characters. Like most mystery solving cartoons, Mike Tyson has a team. Everyone plays a part in the team dynamic. Mike is dumb, but he’s strong. Yung Hee, Mike’s adopted daughter, is the brains. Marquess of Queensberry is the voice of reason. Meanwhile, Pigeon is just...there. Although the roster is a bit strange, somehow the show is able to make it work. The voice acting is amazing too. Who would’ve guessed that Mike Tyson, of all people, would be as entertaining as he is here. Also, Norm MacDonald as Pigeon is outstanding as well.

Mike Tyson Mysteries is a dumb, funny show. It’s good for when you want to turn your brain off and just watch something funny. Mike Tyson never fails, he’s funny as hell here. The writing is good and it's a good distraction.

If you want to watch it, it's available on Hulu right now.
